About the event

Class participants will learn the fundamentals of drawing on location while observing everyday scenes such as buildings, streets, parks, and people.

The class will begin with a brief history of urban sketching, followed by a look at example sketchbooks and a discussion of recommended supplies. Students will learn simple techniques for composition, perspective, and adding quick details that bring sketches to life.

Working with portable materials like pen, pencil, and optional watercolor, participants will build confidence in drawing what they see while developing their own personal style. This class is perfect for beginners as well as experienced artists who want to loosen up their approach and enjoy sketching in a supportive group setting.

No experience necessary—just bring a small sketchbook and a sense of curiosity!
