About this mural:

Salmon are an integral part of the Cedar River's life cycle. They have been populating the river for millennia, finding a place in the culture of the Renton area both past and present. The two salmon are representations of that shared history and nature, with one being an indigenous design, by Tommy Segundo of CreNative Designz, harkening back to the Salish culture of the region and a more natural history variant of what we know and love. The murals location is especially important as it is within a few hundred feet of the Cedar River and a place where the Seattle Aquarium hosts naturalists during salmon spawning season to talk about the species impact on the region. Overall the mural is a way to express our appreciation for salmon both past an present in a place where they frequent year after year.
