Jake Heare

RMAC Liaison

Jake grew up in the rural Texas panhandle inspired by the small but inventive art scene in the area. Coming from a science background he has degrees in Marine Biology and Fisheries Science. A later in life turn to art allows him to express the beauty he has seen during his time working in the biological sciences into something everyone can enjoy. He has worked in woodcarving, laser cutting & etching, watercolors, glassblowing, glass fusion, digital painting and any other media that strikes his fancy. In addition to Renton Art Oasis, he also volunteers with the Renton Municipal Arts Commission and the Foss Waterway Seaport Museum.

Mission Statement

Renton Art Oasis is a nonprofit dedicated to nurturing the creative spirit of Renton’s local artists through access to resources, public exposure, and community-driven programming. We believe art is for everyone, and we work to remove barriers by offering free or low-cost classes, providing art supplies, and creating inclusive spaces where all people—regardless of background or income—can participate. Our mission is to cultivate a vibrant arts scene by empowering artists and fostering meaningful connections between creators and the community.

We believe:

Art lives everywhere - not just in galleries or studios, but in neighborhoods, conversations, and everyday acts of creativity.

Art is for everyone - every voice matters, and every form of expression
has value.

Art builds community - bringing people together to imagine, heal, and grow.

If it comes from a place of intention, imagination, or lived experience,
it belongs here.

Renton Art Oasis is a home for all forms of art—and all who create it.
