Karen Drumheller

Creative Advisor

Karen was born in Spokane, Washington, in 1951, and raised in Richland, Washington, on the beautiful Columbia River. All 4 kids were encouraged in the arts from a young age-taking art classes and summer workshops. Karen headed off to the University of Puget Sound in 1969 as an art major, studying pottery and printmaking. She got her teaching certificate from University of Washington and began working with teenagers painting murals on public schools in Seattle. Throughout her working career, she always worked with teenagers, as a counselor/social worker with King County and as an Art and Photography teacher at Kent-Meridian High School.  After retiring in 2016, she built her studio and began teaching art workshops in nearly every medium. She has taught acrylic  painting, watercolor painting, encaustic, oil pastels, collage, colored pencil, linocut, sculpture, mosaic, beading, textile design, basketry and more. 

As a member of Renton Art Oasis, she is excited to be involved in upcoming events and classes.
