About the event
In this 2-hour class, students will explore the rich color, expressive qualities, and unique textures of oil pastels while working from a variety of still-life examples. Guided by instructor Karen Drumheller, students will learn foundational techniques such as layering, blending, and expressive mark-making, along with practical guidance on composition, color choices, and creating light and shadow.
Karen will offer step-by-step demonstrations and individual feedback, encouraging both beginners and returning artists to experiment with this vibrant, forgiving medium and develop their own personal style. The class is designed to be supportive and relaxed, allowing students to build confidence while enjoying the creative process. Students will leave with a completed oil pastel still-life and a deeper understanding of how to continue working with oil pastels at home.
